Below is an example of research into a film and how conclusions are drawn from it.
When researching your film consider the following factors:
Film company involved
Technology
Trends
Genre and cycles
Stars
What is happening in the real world eg.war
Regulation issues (censorship)
You need to include in brackets where you got your research from.
Your article would be better if you compare the 2 films throughout.
Don't forget to add a conclusion to your article discussing what the 2 films highlight about factors that can influence the making of a film in Hollywood.
Gravity is the 8th highest grossing film of 2013 made by Warner Bros, the second most powerful film company in Hollywood (http://www.therichest.com/rich-list/the-biggest/the-10-biggest-hollywood-studios/). This means that large finance was available, hence they could hire actors such as Sandra Bullock who is the most highest paid actor (www.forbes.com) and George Clooney who is known for choosing roles which he believes in rather than those that he thinks will be a success (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/george-clooney-oscars-brad-pitt-stacy-keibler-descendants-290691). This adds credibility to the film, as the audience is aware of these star personas and could believe that this is a more credible and challenging film for the audience, as it is not part of a sequel franchise which are the type of films usually produced by Hollywood.
The Director is Alfonso Cuaron who also wrote the screenplay, therefore he would have had some control over the production process. He had previously directed other successful films such as Harry Pottter and Children of Men (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0190859/) which proved he could direct films that could be a profitable success, but he was also known for other films outside Hollywood which meant they were usually more challenging to the audience and more original.
The film is a sci-fi/thriller, the sci-fi element usually requires a big budget due to CGI and special effects 80% being CGI (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravity_%28film%29) and its use of 3D was praised for being better than what James Cameron achieved in Avatar (The New York Times) also ensured the film’s success. Sci-fi is still a popular genre but is usually combined with another in order to provide something new to audience, like Guardians of the Galaxy which is a sci-fi/action/adventure and is currently 8th in the US box office (http://www.imdb.com/boxoffice/), proving its popularity.
Warner Bros also control the distribution element of the film, which again means funding was available to market the film worldwide.
